People’s House

Hospitality for those in need.

  • The purpose of the People’s House is to serve the community. It has kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms where people can stay when they have need. Sometimes it hosts families who have a child or elderly relative getting long-term treatments at the nearby hospital. Sometimes it hosts international or university students who are in between secure and affordable housing. Whoever it is, we try to help by providing them hospitality at the People’s House.

  • The People’s House was constructed in 1980 originally as a foster home. It was completely renovated in 2010. For many years it has offered free housing to residents from different parts of the U.S. and other countries, including many families with loved ones receiving treatment at the Christiana Health Care Center and Helen F. Graham Center.
